First of all...go rent or buy the FireFly series. It only cost $40.00. That is cheap for a series. It is a keeper...watch that first...then watch the movie....you will get so much more out of it then.
The movie was pretty good. They cut corners on some parts...but, what the heck...it is a movie. You only can show so much. The special effects in the movie were top notch in my opinion. Well written show...that is what really makes it good....the story.... |

I loved it. Absolutely Loved it. Saw when it came out not too long after for my birthday.
I also loved FireFly. The movie is just a condensed form, but doesn't lose any of the feeling you got from the show. It did well, Imho. Joss Whedon, you're my hero! But seriously, FireFly rocked, but sadly, after 11 episodes they got cancelled. But it came back full force in Serenity. I highly recommend this. --The Shim |

Battlestar Galactica is, IMO, better yet than anything Joss Whedon ever did.
But BG aside, Buffy (before the evil Willow plot) and Angel (before the evil Cordelia plot) and Firefly (despite the hokey Western accents) are among the best TV ever, not just the best SF/fantasy. And Serenity is one of the best SF movies ever. |

It would be VERY beneficial, as someone said, to see the show Firefly first. The movie isn't just "based" on the tv series, it continues it (to an extent). I absolutely love Firefly and Serenity, and watch episodes and the movie all the time.
